Minneapolis, MN – day two

This would be our 4th away game traveling to watch Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees this summer. Hubby was excited to watch his team and it would be the first time visiting Target Field for both of us.

The day started with taking the free shuttle up the Nicollet Mall and then walking to Fulton Brewing. They had just opened and we were ready to have some fine ales. We were very impressed with our first round of beers at Fulton. I had the Sweet Child of Vine which was an American IPA. It was a very good beer but after I had a sip of hubby’s beer I thought his was better. He was having the Worthy Adversary, a Russian Imperial Stout. It was soooooo damn good that I ordered it for round 2. This brewery was just our style!

Target Field was a pretty nice ballpark. We walked the inside circumference once just to get the lay of the land and scope the best beer stands. I ordered the OverRated American IPA brewed by Surly Brewing. Later in the game, I had the Saga IPA by Summit Brewing.

We got to see a tribute to Derek Jeter (DJ) which was very touching. Every ballpark that we’ve visited to watch Derek Jeter and the NY Yankees play has been very respectful of DJ with standing ovations. He’s a class act and a true sportsman!

Yankees lost in extra innings 2-1 but it was still a great day to be at a ballpark sipping on beers and being in the sunshine!

We liked Fulton Brewing so much that after the game we ran back there to purchase some tee-shirts and a glass. I’ve already worn my shirt and I love it. Finally, a brewery that sells girls sizes not just a men’s small! Thank you Fulton!

We walked back to the Nicollet Mall area to meet with a high school friend of mine. She had recently been living in Denver so I had already met up with her on two occasions in Colorado. Now, she was living in Minnesota so we made plans to meet at The Brit. We had a great dinner, great conversation, and the heat and bugs weren’t too bad either. ha ha. Hubby and I both ordered a Furious IPA brewed by Surly. After dinner we stopped at The News Room for one last drink. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the night air and activities on the mall. We had such a great time with Anne & Theo and hopefully we can meet up again sometime in the future!
