Vienna, Austria – part three

We didn’t have much time on our last day in Vienna since we were catching the train to Budapest and it would be a 3 hour ride. We started the day with a visit to several of the Wiener Christkindlmarkts (Christmas Markets). It was awesome to be surrounded by Christmas and it really put me in the holiday spirit. They take such care in setting up these villages and each shop owner does such a fantastic job displaying their goods. I was very impressed with the whole set up. We had some pretzels and hot Glögg (mulled wine) while wandering around looking at the crafts.

At 1pm we had arranged a tour of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, the famous music hall where the New Year’s Day symphony is played and broadcast all around the world. Tickets are almost impossible to get and are done by a lottery system.

Next it was time to grab our backpacks from the Ritz Carlton and relax on the train to Budapest, Hungary.
